What’s Included in a Filter Service

Comprehensive Filter Cleaning & Inspection Includes:

  • Grid/cartridge cleaning or sand backwash
  • Inspection for tears, cracks, or worn O-rings
  • Reassembly with proper sealing
  • Pressure testing and flow check
  • Digital service report with notes and photos

How Often Should You Clean Your Filter?

Recommended Filter Cleaning Frequency

Cartridge Filters: Every 8–12 weeks depending on usage


D.E. Filters: Every 12 weeks or sooner for high-use pools


Sand Filters: Backwash every 4–6 weeks, sand replacement every 3–5 years


High-traffic, heavily screened, and commercial pools should service filters more frequently.

Low flow, cloudy water, increased pressure readings, or visible debris returning to the pool are common signs.


  • Single cartridge: every 8–12 weeks 
  • Four-cartridge: every 12–15 weeks
  • DE backwash: every 6–8 weeks
  • Sand: backwash every 6–8 weeks, replace every 7–12 years


Most filter services take 30–45 minutes, depending on the system.


You can, but you shouldn’t. A clogged filter strains your pump, increases energy costs, and leads to green or cloudy water.


You’ll receive pressure readings, photos, technician notes, and recommendations for replacement parts if needed.


Yes, we offer full replacement options and will only recommend replacement when necessary.


Generally replacement for each are as follows:

  • Cartridge filters: Every 2–3 years
  • D.E. grids: Every 3–5 years 
  • Sand: Every 5–7 years
     

Replacement may be sooner for high-traffic pools, storms, or poor water balance.

  • DE open clean: $125
