Create Your Oasis with BlueSway Pools

Professional Acid Wash Services for Stained, Green, or Heavily Neglected Pools

An acid wash is the fastest and most effective way to restore a pool with severe staining, algae buildup, or years of mineral deposits. At BlueSway Pools, we safely remove discoloration, brighten plaster, eliminate stubborn algae, and bring your pool surface back to a clean, refreshed finish.

Perfect for pools with deep staining, rough or etched surfaces, or “swamp-to-clean” transformations.

Why Acid Wash Your Pool?

Over time, pool surfaces absorb minerals, algae, and organic debris that normal cleaning can’t remove. An acid wash cuts through years of buildup and reveals a fresh, bright surface underneath. Ideal for neglected pools, foreclosure pools, and severe copper/iron staining.

What an Acid Wash Fixes

What an Acid Wash Can Remove

  • Heavy algae staining (black, green, or yellow)
  • Calcium deposits and scale build
  • Rust, metal stains, and mineral discoloration
  • Organic stains from leaves, mulch, and debris
  • “Green-to-black” neglected pool surfaces
  • Blemishes caused by poor circulation or chemical imbalance

Our Acid Wash Process (Step-by-Step)

How BlueSway Performs a Safe, Professional Acid Wash

We follow a controlled and protective process to preserve your plaster while achieving the best possible result:

  1. Drain the pool completely
We ensure safe drainage away from your home and follow all county guidelines.

  2. Inspect plaster for cracks or structural issues
We evaluate the surface to determine the safest acid-to-water ratio.

  3. Apply muriatic acid solution to the pool walls & floor
This removes staining, scale, and algae embedded in the plaster.

  4. Scrub & neutralize the surface
We brush the surface thoroughly and neutralize all acid for safety.

  5. Rinse the pool and pump out wastewater
Waste is safely removed and disposed of per regulations.

  6. Refill your pool and rebalance chemistry
Your water is professionally adjusted so it’s safe, clear, and ready for use.

When Do You Need an Acid Wash?

Signs Your Pool May Need an Acid Wash

  • The pool is green or black even after shocking
  • Heavy stains are visible on walls or floors
  • Waterline and plaster feel extremely rough
  • Surface looks dull, brown, or streaked
  • Algae returns quickly after treatment
  • Pool has sat unused for months

How Often Should an Acid Wash Be Done?

  • Every 5–7 years for most plaster pools
  • More often for heavily used or poorly maintained pools

Acid washing too frequently can wear down plaster, which is why we always inspect your surface first.
